Mount Apharwat Summit
A shorter, sharper 4,390 m summit above Gulmarg.
Named for the hour it was made for. A four-day ridge journey from Yusmarg to a west-facing high camp where every evening the Pir Panjal ignites in orange and violet.

The Expedition
From the quiet meadow resort of Yusmarg, this expedition climbs steadily through fir forest and grazing pastures to a high camp positioned for one thing above all: the sunset. Each clear evening the western ridges glow through every shade of amber and rose.
Summit morning delivers a sweeping panorama, and the whole route stays blissfully free of the crowds found on Kashmir's better-known trails.

The Fine Print
The Route
Distances and positions are illustrative. Your trek leader carries GPS tracks, and a detailed day-by-day map pack is shared with every confirmed booking.
Fitness & Preparation
This is a moderate trek. Four days of forest and ridge walking with one summit day to about 4,120 m. Comfortable walking of 8–12 km a day with a daypack sees you through in good shape.
Start preparing three to four weeks out: brisk walks or jogs, stair climbing and a few hikes with a loaded daypack build the stamina that turns a hard day into a happy one. Our guides set a steady, sustainable pace and never leave anyone behind.
Weather & Best Season
June to September is ideal, when the Yusmarg meadows are green and the passes open. The route is named for its evenings — clear skies mean a spectacular sunset from the high camp almost every night.
Warm days give way to cold, still nights on the ridge. Because the camp faces west for the sunset, pack a warm layer and a headlamp for lingering outside after dark.
Pack Smart
Ponies carry the group kit — you carry a daypack with the essentials. Here's the short list.
